About Me
Simon Tamungang is an Associate Professor of Applied Ecology and Wildlife Management, specializing in ecological conservation and biodiversity sustainability.
Former Senior lecturer and researcher at the University of Dschang, Chair of Basic Science Department in the University of Bamenda, Pioneer Chair of the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Technology in the University of Bamenda, Simon is currently an Affiliate Scholar at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA.
His research examines the impact of ecological pressures on wildlife populations, focusing on the African Grey Parrot (Psittacus Erithacus) and other species affected by habitat degradation and unsustainable exploitation.
His leadership in PARROTPRO contributed to the Government of Cameroon’s conservation initiatives under CITES. His research played a pivotal role in the 2016 global reclassification of the Grey Parrot as an endangered species.
