Earlier this week, AFWS led a hands-on training workshop at the headquarters of OCEAC (Organisation de Coordination pour la lutte contre les Endémies en Afrique Centrale) in Yaounde, Cameroon — in partnership with the OCEAC Laboratory.

The workshop provided practical training in data management and scientific reporting using R Programming, equipping participants with skills essential for evidence-based monitoring of endemic diseases, wildlife tracking, and conservation research.

Designed specifically for selected students and early-career researchers from multiple institutions across Central Africa, the sessions focused on transforming raw field data into actionable insights — helping drive more effective and informed strategies across health, environment, and conservation sectors.

Participants came from both Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, representing a growing regional network of emerging researchers.

The organizing team received over 70 applications. Due to limited capacity, the selection process was highly competitive, reflecting the strong demand for this type of technical training in the region.
